Is there a way to test a covered call strategy in a simulator like Investopedia?

I am looking to get into covered calls and feel like I have a good understanding of the strategy and risks involved, but I want to test it out on a simulator before I use real money. Is there a way to do this on a simulator? I have not had any luck find a video or walkthrough of how to do this.

Is there a simulation investing game (paper trading) site for trading options? Just curious I know Investopedia has paper trading but don’t think it has options

Investopedia Simulator TSLA AAPL split glitch.

Hi. I am an actual investor, but I use Investopedias service to test out prospective stocks before buying them.
My issue is that I own $2,000,000 dollars of AAPL and $1,000,000 of TSLA (In real life and the simulator, don’t worry I own plenty other stocks too.)
TSLA and AAPL stocks just split, and in real life this did not effect me since I was compensated. But in the simulator it shows a loss of $2,000,000.
Does this happen normally and will it resolve itself with time? Does it just take a while for it to process splits? Or do I have to abandon the simulator? It is useful because while I own the exact same stocks on the simulator and in real life, it is good to test the waters, and it is nice to have open on another monitor to see how my stocks are doing at a glance. Help is appreciated.
(And personally, in case anyone asks, how do I have many, many millions in the stock market? I am a trust fund kid.)

Has anyone used Investopedia's stock simulator?

I logged in today to check on SPOT, and my shares weren't there anymore. Does this thing sell itself or something or is there something wrong with the website?

Short Selling Options on Investopedia Simulator

I tried writing/selling calls/puts on the simulator, meaning, I tried shorting them.
However, when I go to the order screen, there is no "sell to open" option.
1) Is there a way to short options (and not stocks, i.e. I don't want to short sell a stock to re-purchase it in the future) in the simulator?
2) Also, how does one exercise a contract? It seems I can olny buy and sell them having a net profit/loss via the premiums, and not through the actual difference made by purchasing (calls) and selling (puts) the stocks at the price agreed on the option contract.

Investopedia Simulator Advice

Hello! I'm in 8th grade and we have a period where teachers choose a topic they like and teach about it (half the length of other periods). I am in one where we use the Investopedia simulator and are having a competition to see who can make the most out of the given $1,000,000. I have followed the stock market a bit for a while, but before we started the simulator we learned many of the basics. Currently, I just want advice on how good my (fake money) portfolio looks. Because I've only spent about 1/5 of my money so far, but everything is off by a bit, I can't really get percents. But I can give the general stats:
In total I've invested $202,334.20 of my million. I've made $2,255.14 total and the stocks I currently hold have made $1776.86 of that. I have
100 shares of AMZN (accounts for most of the money I've spent, will probably sell some of it soon)
50 shares of DG
50 shares of F
150 shares of IP
35 shares of CASY*
15 shares of SCHL*
20 shares of UL**
10 shares of NGG**
30 shares of WRK
15 shares of PEP
* stocks that I got because quarterly earnings are coming out monday for those and I am hoping they'll improve and then I can sell (CASY might have released their report? I can't really tell)
** stocks that I got of UK companies on the US exchanges because UK economy is doing better, I plan on keeping UL
I also made the other $500ish by buying lots of ADBE Wednesday, and selling it yesterday after they released their very positive quarterly reports. That's kind of my strategy for half of it, I plan on keeping everything without any asterisks (except some of the AMZN)
Any advice on good strategies or ways I could improve?
Thanks :)

What are some really short term investments?

My business class is having a competition, we are on a stock simulator (investopedia) and whoever gets the most profit in a month wins an A in the class. The trick is that this is how we are learning about stocks, so i have no idea what i am doing. We were given 100,000$ to start.

What are some good Forex trading Simulators (prefer web-based, not program)?

Hi, I'm learning Forex and I need a new simulator because my current simulator Investopedia's FXtrader no longer show historical charts of currency pairs. What are some good alternatives? Please help.

So here's an idea I had today

I am starting to learn how to invest in the stock market using a simulator (Investopedia). I'm doing it mostly for fun, as not taking it too seriously, but I thought it would be really cool if there was a simulator that had fictional companies (from gaming and other medias). It would be a great tool for learning this kind of thing, and would also be a great game.
Imagine you are investing in Aperture and you receive [fake] news saying how it is doing, what are their plans, what they have been doing and all that. It's the kind of thing a lot of developers could come together to make a system with tons of companies. We could have Abstergo and Umbrella together. This would also serve as a marketing area for the games, as Ubisoft would be able to make [fake] news that would tie-in with the game.
Do you guys think this is a good idea? Do you think it's possible?

Is there a way to exercise an option in Investopedia simulator?

Playing around to teach myself some stuff. Shorted 100 BA but bought a call at just below where i shorted it, so if it does takeoff i can exercise and limit losses.
Is there anyway to excersize that option or can tpu only buy/sell them in investopedia?? Its tanking right now and if theres no way for me to use it to cover my position, if needed ill probably sell it once it recovers a bit

Investopedia simulator glitch??

How can you tell on investopedia's simulator if you bought a call or a put?
VIXY2028N132020/02/28 1 on PROSHARES VIX SHORT-TERM FUTURES ETF at $13.00 $2.51 $1.30 $260.00- $242.00(-48.21 %)
I thought the volatility was too high and was gonna drop, so i bought put options on VIXY at 13.
Vixy is now 12, so i should have made a big profit, i dont understand then how investopedia says i am in the red... Is there a way to check if i bought a call or a put, i dont think i accidently bought a call.
All investopedia says in trade history is one of these ticker things without any indication of call or put.

Reddit, I have lots of free time at work, How can I make more money?

I like my job but I have a lot of downtime in between tasks/projects and I could use the extra money.
There are some limitations: * I cannot leave my desk * I cannot work in some websites (firewalled) but I could install programs * I cannot use cellphone/phone/voice.
thanks for your help.
ED1: Ok so far the best (and only option if we exclude the smack banana bread seller) is Day Trader. TIL What is a Brokerage Account and that I should research cheap options for discount brokers (interactive brokers, tradeking). and that I need at least 1k. But before I put my lemonade profits into the capitalist machinery I can simulate using this, this, or download this.
ED2: well, it seems learning how to program in C is the way to go here. Is a little disappointing because I haven't done anything since VB back in the day, so lets see.

The /r/SecurityAnalysis 2015 Investment Simulation

Welcome to the /SecurityAnalysis 2015 Investment Simulation. In this competition, each competitor manages a $100,000 portfolio and their performance is judged after three years. I decided to host this competition after seeing many week, month, or quartely long stock pick and investment games on Reddit. That time period is much too short to get real insight into the strengths and weaknesses of your investment philosophy.
Our game begins January 2nd, 2012 and ends January 2nd, 2015. This simulation is meant to be deliberate practice, so invest as you would in real life. Although simulations are imperfect and there is no substitute to investing with real money, this will be a starting point in investing for many and a growth point for others that want to try new techniques.

r/SecurityAnalysis Investment Simulation Update

I wanted to provide a quick update on the /SecurityAnalysis 2015 Investment Simulation that started on January 2nd, 2012. As a refresher, each competitor manages a $100,000 portfolio and their performance is judged after three years. This simulation is meant to be deliberate practice, so invest as you would in real life. Although simulations are imperfect and there is no substitute to investing with real money, this will be a starting point in investing for many and a growth point for others that want to try new techniques.
35 people have registered for this competition, but only 16 people made trades. The current leader is itsmedog with a 27.2% gain since January. Most of his profits have come from positions in AAPL, AAPL call options, OCLR, PRXI, and BREW. I am almost in last place. I pursued a very concentrated strategy for the simulation and SVU is currently down 24%. Only 4 of 35 people (itsmedog, nmelluzzo, Drited, and BusyBeingBorn) are currently beating the S&P500's return YTD of 4.43%. I expect this trend to continue as most active managers don't beat broad based indexes.
For those interested in joining this simulation, you can sign up for the competition using this link after you sign up for Investopedia.

This simulation is meant to be deliberate practice, so invest as you would in real life. Although simulations are imperfect and there is no substitute to investing with real money, this will be a starting point in investing for many and a growth point for others that want to try new techniques.
41 people have registered for this competition, but only 23 people made trades. The current leader is still itsmedog with a 28% gain YTD. He was ahead about the same in the last update. Most of his profits have come from positions in AAPL, AAPL call options, OCLR, PRXI, and BREW. While I am no longer almost in last, I'm still below average. I have not sold any of my positions since the last update and only initiated one Merger Arb position. SVU is currently down 14% and is still the biggest dog in my portfolio. I pursued a very concentrated strategy for the simulation and I'm interested in seeing how this turns out.
Only 4 of 23 people that made trades (itsmedog, nmelluzzo, Drited, and egoodwin) are currently beating the S&P500's return YTD of 9.26%. I expect this trend to continue as most active managers don't beat broad based indexes.
